The RDJD K703

Specifications

The K703 is a relatively new fan from RDJD INC. The fans on the unit are made by JMC Products which is the parent company of RDJD. The heatsink features partially enclosed, folded fins and has unique screw on clips. One of the things you will notice about this unit is that it is very well built. The cables are surrounded by a rubber boot which cuts down on interference and avoids entanglement. The fans are two 4200 RPM / 21CFM ball bearings. As big as these fans are, the unit is relatively quiet and puts out 34 dBA. The heatsink also comes with a proprietary clip for the motherboard. The stock clip will not work because there are no open fins to attach it to.

Installation

Because of the large fans, the unit will not fit on an Asus K7-M motherboard. The power cable is in the way. As I soon found out, the same goes for the Gigabyte GA-7IX. With slight modification you can get the heatsink to fit. However, this also cuts down on the airflow. This was my only alternative and I was forced to move one of the fans out of the way. Following is a picture after modification.

After moving the fan out of the way, installation was quite easy. Just install the plastic clip, screw on the heatsink, and insert the CPU. Even with the fan offset from the proper position, I still noticed a drop of 10 degrees Fahrenheit from the stock fan. The case temperature also dropped around 4 degrees. My .25mu Athlon 650 was running at 93 degrees and case temp was at 89 degrees after several hours of run time.
