ATI, Stocks, and AMD Posted by Jack Kolesar
Friday, July 21 @ 20:08:02 CDT
Amid a horrible day at the market, rumors are increasing that AMD and ATI will try to sell merger ideas to their stockholders on Monday. I'm not sure about this as I wonder where it would put nVidia. Also, it could be a dangerous move from an investor standpoint because of the highly competive market of GPUs. We'll just have to see what happens.

Dell Buys AlienWare - AMD and Dell Finally Posted by bill
Thursday, March 23 @ 11:25:15 CST
For months, rumors have persisted that Dell is seeking to develop servers based on AMD microprocessors, a move that would strike a blow to Intel Corp., which has been Dell's only provider of processors. But to date, Dell has yet to offer any product based on AMD processors. Miami-based Alienware offers a wide range of systems featuring both Intel and AMD processors. The deal, according to Doug Freedman, senior analyst at American Technology Research Inc., gives Dell access to a highly skilled design team — one that is familiar with AMD chips. "I think this is the start of a relationship [between Dell and AMD]," Freedman said.

The TechZone reviews the Zalman CNPS9500 LED Cooler. Posted by bill
Tuesday, March 21 @ 07:40:47 CST
Yet another cooler review this time @ The TechZone

Like past Zalman cooler, the CNPS9500 LED is VERY BIG. The unit has a 92mm blue LED fan and weighs in at 530 grams. This is well beyond the 450g maximum weight for an Intel Socket 775 and AMD Socket 754/939/940 cooler. Special mounting brackets are used and care must be taken when moving a computer equipped with a cooler that exceeds the specified weight limit. The CNPS9500 LED is so big that Zalman has a list of motherboards that will not fit this cooler.

MSI RX1800XT-VT2D512E RX1800XT Videocard Review Posted by bill
Tuesday, March 21 @ 07:34:23 CST
Looking at memory bandwidth requirements, videocard's also surpass CPU's here as well. A single Pentium 4 operating on an 800 MHz front side bus (FSB) has access to up to 6.4GB/s worth of bandwidth. A dual core Pentium D will realistically can use up to 12.8GB/s, but only half is available. By way of comparison, ATi's smoking hot Radeon X1800 XT has access to up to 48GB/s bandwidth. That's eight times what a Pentium 4 will use!

The TechZone reviews the Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO Memory Posted by bill
Wednesday, March 15 @ 13:26:02 CST
There are many companies try to make in the high performance memory market. The names of the successful ones are few and far between. One name that really stands out when one thinks of high performance memory is Corsair. Corsair is one of the top makers of reliable, high performance RAM in the world and they've sent us some memory that that promises to deliver something we haven't seen yet, a CAS latency of 2 at speeds of PC3500. Pretty awesome stuff indeed, if it works.

Check this article out HERE , If you have deep enough pockets - you need this ram. But do you wait for DDR2?

The TechZone reviews the Samsung SyncMaster 910MP Multifunction LCD Monitor. Posted by bill
Monday, March 13 @ 09:33:11 CST

The Samsung SyncMaster 910MP is a multifunction 19" LCD panel. This display combines such features as a TV Tuner, IR Remote, Secondary Inputs, and HDTV compatibility. All these features are crammed into a monitor that has a 8ms pixel response time, providing for excellent desktop PC and gaming performance. This is a great added bonus, as many multifunction LCD panels are still living in the days of 25 - 30 ms pixel response times.
